Intermediate Level Network Engineer – Job Description
Job Title: Intermediate Level Field Technician
Summary

The Intermediate Level Field Technician position provides level one and two computer, server, basic networking, firewall, switching, wireless, and converged systems support for ENT Solutions customers with the goal to resolve requests expediently and with minimal user impact. This position will be centered out of our St. Charles Network Operations office, and will work with many of our customers and clients across a wide variety of verticals and scales both remotely and onsite.

Duties and Responsibilities
 Be dispatched by our service desk team via a pre-scheduled calendar for onsite issue resolution requests to customer locations
 When not onsite, work tickets out of escalation and level 1 queues regarding connectivity or functionality issues, change requests, or other customer issued tasks
 Design, implement, and maintain simple layer 1 and 2 networks, basic server and virtualization components, and PCs/laptops
 Examine existing network and systems topologies and make recommendations for upgrades, enhancements, and improvements
 Documenting new and existing equipment, networks, and systems per company requirements and guidelines within company-provided documentation platforms
 Develop detailed solution design documents, including but not limited to Visio drawings, bill of materials, and scopes of work
 Complete Autotask data entry in a thorough and timely manner

Requirements
 Possess strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills when working with end users and coworkers via phone, email, and in-person communication
 Possess strong logical-thinking and troubleshooting skills and issue resolution tactics with minimal direct supervision
 Ability to take initiative and independently solve problems
 Ability to organize work in an efficient manner, prioritize requests, and respond as appropriate based on a first-in, first-out approach
 Work well in a fast-paced environment with constant change
 Accurate typing and data entry skills
 Ability to lift items up to 40lbs
 Ability to work as scheduled to meet the requirements of the customer and end-users, between the hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, with occasional after-hours commitments as directed that may be emergent and unplanned in nature
 Must have reliable transportation both to the office and between customer sites
Education, Experience, and Technical Knowledge:
 Associate’s Degree, pertinent technical certifications, 4 years of experience providing
end-user facing support in a corporate, education, or service provider environment, or
equivalent combination of the three
 Basic networking knowledge including switching, wireless, firewalls
 Basic telephony knowledge
 Advanced Windows/Windows Server Administration knowledge
 VMware knowledge a plus
 HPE/Aruba familiarity a plus
 Avaya IP Office knowledge a plus
 Fortinet, Barracuda, SonicWALL firewall experience
 HIPAA or PCI-compliance experience a plus
 Proficient in common computer applications, including the Microsoft Office Suite
 Grasp of multi-layer troubleshooting
 Experience working with a ticketing system or ticket-based workflow a plus
